ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Model Farms High School
Model Farms is proudly comprehensive and focused on high expectations and the celebration of excellence. Students are encouraged to strive for their personal best in academic, creative and sporting pursuits within a caring learning community.
Model Farms High School is a public high school in Baulkham Hills, a suburb in northwest Sydney, New South Wales.
The school was built and established in 1975.
Our school has an enrolment of approximatey 970 plus 23 support students.

The school is named so because the area was set up to demonstrate farming practices to convicts and others who wished to start a farm when the first settlers arrived.

Model Farms has participated 3 times.
In 2011 we created dairy cow
'Bessie'.
We had a successful year

WE also attended the Cream of the crop ceremony as a finalist.

In 2012 we introduced
Lady Moo Moo
Lady Moo Moo” is a character!
She is dressed from head to hoof in denim and cotton, inlaid with intricate and subtle detailing. She is not a cow you are likely to forget easily – not too many cows have horns quite like hers!
Her udder and hooves have been carefully and very painstakingly wrapped with precision, and her messages have been, quite literally, sewn into the fabric of her skin.
Lady Moo Moo was awarded Cream of the crop and Distinction awards.
In 2013 we were given wool as our farming commodity. Obviously she was a super cow!
WOOL I AM

Our school was awarded 3rd Prize Overall
Wool I Am is a Super Cow, fully equipped with cape – made from knitted patchwork squares – and knitted mask. Wool I Am is broken into three separate pieces, allowing the different areas of the wool industry to be showcased.
Each segment tells a story about a different part of the wool industry. The front segment represents the farm, pastures and sheep in the fields, and also shows bales of wool ready for export. The middle segment represents the label from a ball of wool with important information about the product while the inside shows the internal organs of the cow. The rear segment reflects the business end of the wool industry – once the wool has left the farm. The main woollen products are spelt out by spirals of smoke, describing the processes used on a farm and life from shearing, wool types and the export of bales.

  1. Hey team, you have hard acts to follow here given the previous successes of Bessie, Lady Moo and Wool I Am!
I'm sure you are working hard on the 2015 cow though and know it will be just as fabulous.

What is your Industry area this year?
